China's daily COVID cases jump to record 39,791

🇨🇳 China saw yet another record high in COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours, the National Health Commission (NHC) stated on Sunday. The health authorities identified 39,791 new daily cases on the fourth straight day of record-breaking numbers, while the death toll rose by one.

According to the NHC, the vast majority of the infections, 36,082, are asymptomatic. Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 307,802 COVID-19 infections in mainland China and 5,233 deaths.
