In my innocent breath of rhythm
A moment finds me; hard to breathe.
While my child heart strong, it beats
The moment of darkness too, may seethe.
My faith had let it’s guard down,
While I was relaxing so.
The darkness crept in quickly, quietly
And forced all my strength to go.
The tricky tales of dark and light
How they war with for the soul.
In the battleground of the mind
Complex confusion takes toll.
I pray to God ever silently
So as not to make a stir
I beg forgiveness that I let it in...
I’d gone weak amidst the blur.
I wondered if He heard my ask
For Him to take me in his arms
Again as he did before I collapsed
Where I was held up, safe from harm.
The sun came up, I found it easy to smile
For this was the answer he gave
To see the light with eyes and heart
Assurance; my soul still saved
“I am with you here as I always was,
I never leave your side.
Regardless of how lost you get,
Even when you need to hide.”
Dark corners may be inevitable
But what’s around them surely glows.
It’s the great white light against the black
Blossoming faith in Him grows.
Dark days will come with most certainty
Yet never more certain than your solidarity
No match for your life with the Lord,
It’s everlasting love, and clarity.
