Herd Immunity?
For a vaccine to be able to create and sustain herd immunity, it must be able to prevent not only the symptoms of disease but also the transmission of infection, and an individualโs vaccine protection from the targeted infection must not wane away.
Are today's vaccines capable of doing that?
โคFlu Vaccines? No. They do not prevent mucosal infection; protection wanes in a few months; and vaccination increases risk of other respiratory infections.
โคWhooping Cough vaccine? No. Protection wanes in as little as 18 months. It may suppress symptoms but cannot stop colonization and transmission, so you may become an unwitting carrier to vulnerable people. Studies show newborns are catching whooping cough from their fully vaccinated siblings.
โคMumps vaccine? No. Outbreaks are happening in fully vaccinated populations. Two of the Merckโs own virologists have taken Merck to court for alleged falsification of the efficacy data on the mumps portion of the MMR.
โVaccination does not account for the impressive declines in mortality seen in the first half of the century . . .
Once again nearly 90% of the decline in infectious disease mortality among US children occurred before 1940,
when few antibiotics or vaccines were available.โ
