getting ready to pick the heads off Purple Coneflowers, also known as echinacea! I can either dry it for a tea or put a bunch of the heads in vodka for 6 weeks and use with vegetable glycycern for syrup, which helps with coughs and colds and can be used by those with high blood pressure, but talk to your doctor first to be sure for you! My husband has high blood pressure and he can use this! God is wonderful!

how to make Echinacea tincture for colds and coughs~.

You will need Purple Cone flowers heads lots of them. (I have flowers planted ready to pick when they flower.)

1 1/2 gallon jar with twist on cap.

vodka
Vegetable Glycerine
clean and sterilize the jar. let dry.

fill about 2/3 full with purple cone flowers heads, Cover with vodka.

Let it sit for 6 or more weeks. strain and divide into quart size canning jars, fill only 1/2 full, to fill the rest, add the vegetable glycerine.

It is now ready to use. In my humble opinion, it tastes terrible, but it works, I will take 2 to 3 tablespoons if I have a cold and no more coughing! It won't go bad, because of the alcohol. I make this for my children as well.

to make for your grandchildren, divide the echinacea alcohol even more or let the echinacea heads sit in the glycerine only. It works, but refrigerate and throw out in the spring. Or add a bit of the vodka to preserve, you don't need much maybe a few tablespoons and shake.
