In our life, there are only few days, which leave the best memories in the heart. Such memorable days give people priceless lifetime experience, which helps them in the future. They are full of emotions, dramas, thrill, mysteries, and adventures. Some memories can make us laugh or cry even after a long period of time. My first day in college is one of the most memorable days in my life. For most of people, the first day of their academic career is always thrilling and exciting. Ironically, it was not a sweet experience for me, but a day full of confusion and hustle and bustle.
I managed to secure a place in one of the top ranking colleges of the country, i.e., Missouri Southern State University (MSSU). I was very excited and gratified as I achieved what I aimed for. However, the thought of the first day at college was giving me goose bumps. On that day, I woke up very early in the morning, at four oโclock, even though it took me fifteen minutes to walk from my home to the college. Actually, I was quite nervous and it was the major reason to wake up and get ready in advance.
I came to the college too early and had to wait almost forty five minutes before the first class started. The college was big and spacious. The view of campus was amazing as well as the architecture of various departmentsโ buildings. The entire college atmosphere took my breath away. There were many unknown people wandering around with a lot of question marks on their faces. Actually, freshmen were easily recognized. As soon as I realized that I had to find my class, I went to look for the notice-board with class time-table and other information. However, I could not find any class information there. I asked some students and professors for help but most of them had no clue. One of the office-assistances told me to go to the next department, which was a little far from my building. There I was told that it was the department of American students, so being an international student I had look for a special department for international students. Leaving that department, I reached the building for international students. However, it was not the end of my misery. I came to know that I had to complete formally some documents in the office of our department. When everything was done, I was already ten minutes late for the class. I ran and entered my first class almost gasping for breath.
Although I was embarrassed and disappointed due to the poor start of a new session, all classes went smooth. I got acquainted with my classmates, which was the only pleasing moment of the day. Many people misguided me in the morning, but soon I realized that it was not their intention. They were genuinely trying to help me, but did not consider different rules and criteria for international students.
Despite the fact that my first day in college was not best experience, it taught me a lot. I have become more responsible and systematic and understood that it is quite important to calm down and not panic in order to complete all tasks in the right way. It can be said that the experience of my first day in college helped to improve my time management. Definitely, the first day in college was one of the most memorable days of my life.
