I voted for Senator Ted Stevens in 1996 and 2002, but by 2008 we had moved from Alaska to Upstate New York. I was still following the Alaska news, and I was angry when they took Sen. Stevens to court and convicted him over a trifling matter (compared to most DC corruption). I guess that was all they could find against him. Of course, Sen. Stevens lost his bid for re-election, but all I could do was feel bad about it. I was even angrier a few months later, when it came out that the charges were made up, and Sen. Stevens conviction was overturned. Much good that did.
Flash forward 12 years to the General Flynn case, and I read the judge's name, and it was the same judge that presided over Sen. Stevens' trial, and I found that I am still angry, but I'm no longer politically naive.
