Supreme Court Justice Alito says pandemic resulting in ‘unimaginable’ restrictions on individual liberty.
Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito sounded an alarm about restrictions imposed because of the coronavirus pandemic on Thursday, November 12th. He said they should not become a “recurring feature after the pandemic has passed.”
Alito gave remarks over video conference for the Federalist Society’s annual meeting because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The conservative justice said he was not trying to downplay the crisis or criticize officials for responding to it.
He said:
“We have never before seen restrictions as severe, extensive, and prolonged as those experienced for most of 2020. The COVID crisis has served as a sort of a constitutional stress test.” Click to read more.
