My mom, Jo Johnson was in the Army in the mid to late 50's. More important that she went in with the flight crew that pulled out our diplomats in 1960's from Turkey. They were flown in with Turkish military on each side of their flight and stripped searched upon arrival. I still have the things my mom smuggled out that she paid for but brought out. She was a dare devil and went up with the pilots that tested the engines, yet she was afraid of heights.
