Where were you at 8 o'clock on February 9th 1964 ?
" 73 million " North Americans gathered in front their TVs, that night because it was to be a night different from all others !! ….
These 4 young lads were already a sensation in England and now they had crossed the pond to perform their first live performance on U.S. soil as “ The Beatles “ on The Ed Sullivan Show , a popular television variety show. " Paul McCartney ", age 21, " John Lennon ", 23, " George Harrison ", 20, and " Ringo Starr ", 23,opened their set with “All My Loving,” “Till There Was You,” and “She Loves You." Later in the show, after the band took a 35-minute break they returned to play “I Saw Her Standing There”.
Although it was difficult to hear the performance over the screams of teenage girls in the studio audience, an estimated 73 million television viewers, or about 40 percent of the North American population, tuned in to watch. Ed Sullivan immediately booked the Beatles for two more appearances that month.
