SUNSCREEN ๐ŸŒž
โš  DONโ€™T put partially empty sunscreen in your kerbside bins!
Expired sunscreen is a medical product that should be disposed of properly via the RUM (Returned Unwanted Medicines) program ๐Ÿ™Œ
This program allows you to drop off any expired or unwanted medication (whether prescription or over-the-counter), at a pharmacy for safe disposal ๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿ’Š
By doing so, you can prevent harmful chemicals from entering your home and the environment, including waterways.
When it comes to EMPTY containers:
โ™ป๏ธ Empty bottles can go in the recycling bin
๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ Empty tubes go in the waste to landfill bin
WHY?
Sunscreen is regulated by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) in Australia. It
typically has a lifespan of two to three years. The packaging is required to have an expiry or use-by date to make it easier for consumers to keep track. However, to keep it effective, sunscreen must be stored below 30ยฐC and away from direct sunlight or other heat sources, regardless of the expiry date โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒก๏ธ
