We need to all start groups up all over the nation, gathering and sending trailer loads of blankets and sheets for beds and perhaps Mike Lindell's & other groups can send several full trailer loads of My Pillows??? Also every church in America can help by getting together buckets with cleaning items to be used to help clean out what houses are still habitable. Also gather laundry baskets together and fill them with items these families will need to start over--kitchen items, dish towels, bathroom items, coffee makers, etc. We should send trailers full of filled up laundry baskets and each one needs to have a card or a letter inside them--especially from the children of America telling them to "Hang ON--America's got you', 'we LOVE y'all', etc" (even if FEMA doesn't) Kids can be asked to make cards in Sunday schools... These people need more than just food and water--they need to see practical and real signs of HOPE--like they really Might be able to start over, after all. We can then start to ALSO follow that up with trailer loads of winter coats, boots, warm longjohns and other clothes. Strong young men (Eagle scouts and retired military?) need to travel there with chainsaws and Axes and hatchets and mallets, wedges, log sawhorses, log lifters etc etc---and chop the heck out of the fallen wood in those hills (especially what was previously lying dead) and leave piles of wood all along the sides of the roads for the mountain people to come out and collect to heat their homes. All over those mountains the US Army & National Guard, etc should be sent out to help repair homes, put tarps on roofs and make them safe for winter and also chop firewood for these people who are just exhausted. Winter is coming fast to those mountains. We need to be smart and start thinking ahead. EVERYONE can and should be involved in SOME way---if you are elderly, knit or crochet beany hats/caps for the people to keep warm. Buy socks and mittens for them. Run coat drives and as I said, blanket drives. Make afghans and quilts for them with scrap cloth....Americans need to come together. This is a FIVE state disaster. We ALL need to step up...
Any buildings left standing should be being turned into shelters to house people over the winter until they can find other living quarters. They can and should be asked to work in exchange for their room and board, filling in the many jobs that are needed in those communities. Everyone should be working and helping with the clean up. Even the elderly that can should be folding clothes and doing laundry or knitting and crocheting afghans etc. Send the supplies to Samaritan's Purse and ask them to give it to the churches to distribute PLEASE SHARE THIS POST EVERYWHERE
