Support for AMIRA Z: A mother imprisoned for expressing her beliefs
AMIRA Z, a nursing student and mother of a 12-year-old daughter, saw her life suddenly turned upside down. With no previous criminal record, she was searched, held in police custody for 48 hours, brought before an immediate court and detained for 46 days, from September 19 to November 4, 2024. Her crime: having expressed her indignation on social networks about the appalling crimes taking place in Gaza and Lebanon.
Charged with 13 offences, she was tried on October 21, 2024 and sentenced to three years' imprisonment, two of which were suspended. An exceptionally harsh sentence for tweets about Palestine.
The ordeal turned her family's life upside down, disrupted her studies and left her 12-year-old daughter waiting for her mother's return. Today, AMIRA Z needs our support to cover the costs of this ordeal.
