Military tribunals, authorized under the Military Commissions Act of 2006, operate in key locations worldwide, beyond the well-known prison barges and ships in international waters. These tribunals are convened at four significant bases:
1๏ธโฃ Camp Justice โ Guantรกnamo Bay Naval Base (GTMO), Cuba
2๏ธโฃ Camp Thunder Cove โ Naval Support Facility, Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory
3๏ธโฃ Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz โ Dededo, Guam
4๏ธโฃ Ushuaia Naval Base โ Tierra del Fuego, Argentina
Origins of Camp Justice
Camp Justice has a unique history. Initially established at Diego Garcia, the site was renamed Camp Thunder Cove in July 2006. The name Camp Justice was later assigned in 2007 to the military commissions complex at Guantรกnamo Bay.
The naming was a result of a contest won by Technical Sergeant Neil Felver of the 122 Civil Engineering Squadron.
