Japanese government officially decides to release treated water from nuclear power plants into the ocean after two years of significant dilution
The Japanese government held a meeting of the relevant ministers at the Prime Minister's Office on April 13 to formally decide on a policy of releasing treated water from the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant into the ocean. The concentration of tritium, a radioactive substance, will be reduced to less than 1/40th of the national standard. TEPCO will compensate for the damage caused by rumors. In response to the decision, the All Japan Federation of Fishermen's Cooperative Associations issued a comment protesting the decision, saying, "This is unacceptable."
