Do You Know Gwyneth Paltrow Once Turned Down a 2 Million Offer for Titanic?
She has now expressed her guilt for rejecting the role of “Rose” and has said that her mother would kill her if she comes to know that she missed out on 2 million.
It is needless to say that Titanic is one of the best romantic films ever made. All the retro reviewers will let you know that the film was not only emotional but also a survival thriller. It was the highest-grossing film ever made up until the 2009 film “Avatar” took over its tally of 2 billion dollars in the global theatres.
The lead actors of the film Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, who were pretty young at that time, went on to do some splendid films and established themselves as some of the finest actors present today.
You cannot imagine Rose and Jack without the faces of Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet; however, you would be surprised to know that there were other professional actors and actresses who were discussed before James Cameron pinned his hope on the above-mentioned names.
One of the actresses who turned down the role has now expressed her regret over it.
There was a time when Gwyneth Paltrow was all set to play the role of Rose DeWitt Bukater. She was already quite famous by the time Kate Winslet came around, and she was heavily linked with the film “Titanic.”
Paltrow was a woman hailing from a very successful Hollywood family. Her mother, Blythe Danner, as you might know, was a successful Hollywood actress, and her father, Bruce, was also a prominent producer. She was already quite successful by the time the offer of Titanic came to her, but even when the offer was quite promising, she chose to say no.
She opened up about it with Howard Stern, and while she is not sure why she gave up on that role, she explained to him that she kind of regrets her decision. However, she added that she tries her best not to live in her memories.
Now, she has reached a certain point in her career where she can reflect back on the choices she has made in the past. She explained to Howard Stern that she often thinks about her decisions and wonders why on earth did she say yes to that character or no to that character. She added that she has learned from all of these thoughts and has realized that no good will come out while remembering the past.
Affluence is one of the reasons for her regret, and understandably so. The actors who made a good fortune with its theatrical release are still making money today. Forget about Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet; even child actors who were just around the age of five at that time are still making a few hundred dollars a year.
Apart from Gwyneth Paltrow, Claire Danes also rejected the role partly because she wanted to do a movie with another actor as her last film prior to Titanic was also with Leo (Romeo & Juliet).
The role of Jack was also about to be given to Matthew McConaughey before it ultimately went to Leo.
Kate Winslet once revealed that she once had to stalk Leo at the Cannes Film Festival for persuading him to take the role.
Leonardo DiCaprio was initially reluctant to play the part because he didn’t want to be treated as an actor that only does love stories; however, the film went on to win the Best Picture award and solidified DiCaprio as a serious talent for the future. And we very well how the future turned out to be.

“Doctor Who” Actor Talks About His Fight With Anxiety
Sacha Dhawan has revealed that for him getting proper treatment was the scariest part.
A promising actor, who played the nemesis of Doctor Who “The Master,” has shed some light on his latest film, “The Great.” He also talked about his longtime battle with his worst enemy-“anxiety.”
He has revealed that his portrayal of Doctor Who’s nemesis The Master is his biggest professional achievement up until now.
He added that despite the fact that his agent and the BBC got excited by his recruitment, he was not too thrilled about it. The reason for it, as he described in his interview, was his obscure battle with an anxiety disorder. He further explained that the reason he felt anxious to play the part was that he felt he would be the first guy of South Asian origin to play the part, and if he fails to impress them, they will most likely not hire any South Asian actor after that. So, the expectation and pressure he had put on himself were unfathomable.
Sacha was anxious because he felt he was representing the whole community. Now, as he introspects on his thoughts, he believes he was exaggerating everything, but he became honest in the interview and said that the feelings were real.
He also added that he feels that the biggest problem with the industry right now is the fact that people cannot be open about their problems, such as anxiety. Everyone expects an actor to be confident and in his zone all the time. And nobody really knows what an actor is really going through because everybody finds him really confident.
He shared his own story and said that he used to sleep in his trailer before a scene to switch off his anxious thoughts. He added that there were times when he even used to miss out on his lunch so that he could make up time to sleep since those anxious thoughts used to be so brutal.
However, the biggest anxiety-related problems used to occur minutes before a scene when the thoughts used to become really traumatic.
He always used to enter a scene with a sense of worry that he will not be able to deliver his lines.
However, if you have seen bits and pieces of “The Great,” you would have seen that his anxiety has actually made him a brilliant actor. His worry of not putting a step wrong has ensured that he doesn’t really get a step wrong. He looks quite flawless in “The Great.”
“The Great” has recently been launched on Channel 4. The comedy-drama series follows the character Catherine the Great. He plays the character Orlo and the series has gained some positive reviews and has been described as quite stunning in the visual and “riotous” in the portrayal.
The actor had also gained quite significant popularity when he played the role of Davos in the Netflix-Marvel series Iron Fist. The series got canceled in 2018, but Davos’ villainous character received all the due applause from the fans and critics.

“Mr. Bean” Actor Rowan Atkinson Shares His Opinion on Cancel Culture
People are saying that the veteran actor was unsuccessful in reading the room.
It is not even the middle of January, and the news has already started to become monotonous. In the aftermath of a man, who was supposedly partially associated with the film “Bean,” chose to share his controversial opinions on Twitter, the veteran actor Rowan Atkinson has himself come forward and has opinionated on some mainstream controversial topics.
He has recently sat down for an interview with the UK’s mainstream printed media Radio Times, and in the interview, he spoke on a variety of controversial topics such as toxicity pertaining to the social media and a very well known debatable topic of the “cancel culture.”
He expounded his idea and said that the main issue with the internet is the fact that a human-created algorithm decides what a user should see, which in turn results in a very skewed way of looking at society. He explained that all of this turns an argument into good vs. evil, which in turn makes people believe that if a certain person does not agree with them, then he or she is most probably against them. And henceforth, he added, that we see all the projects being labeled as “deserve to be cancelled.”
He compared the ever-present online trolls to a mob in medieval times who used to travel around from street to street looking for individuals who they had to burn. He explained that when discussing someone or a certain topic, it is imperative that we enlighten ourselves with different opinions so that we can get a 360-degree view of the whole issue. However, Atkinson expressed his disappointment with today’s world and said that a wide spectrum outlook towards an issue is impossible because of the culture that we have created online. He explained that he feels sorry for those professionals who have been bashed by this online mob with impunity.
An author named Shannon Miller, who represents The A.V. Club, has criticized Atkins for his comments on “cancel” culture and has said that people in certain positions of authority should not label certain arguments as “witch hunt” or “cancel culture” as it maligns underrepresented people who are just trying their best to make their voices heard. Miller then went on to say that the label more often than not push readers away from the core issues, which the underrepresented people want to speak about.
It was in the month of July last year that an open letter was published by a well-known magazine, “Harper’s Magazine,” which had the title “A Letter On Justice and Open Debate.” It was signed by 150 odd people from the academic and film industry, which included the likes of JK Rowling as well. The article explained the frustration that people have with the free exchange of ideas and knowledge when online people start to publicly shame individuals.
While some may agree or disagree with Atkinson’s opinion, which how exactly things should be, he has done some exceptional work, and two of the most famous characters he has ever played are Johnny English and, of course, Mr. Bean. Interestingly, in the interview, Rowan Atkinson explained that he isn’t quite a fan of the work he has to put in to play Mr. Bean, and he is now eagerly waiting for the end of it. Atkinson explained that playing the character of Mr. Bean is quite difficult for him because the sheer expectations involved with the character makes him anxious and stressed.
However, he added that he is currently working on an animated film, which would feature the iconic character. While saying that, he added that playing the animated character is more fun for him because he does not have to act.

Donner Responds To Scorsese’s Critique Of Superhero Genre
Filmmaker Richard Donner shared his perspective regarding Martin Scorsese’s comment on superhero films.
Donner is a producer, director, and occasional writer of comic books. He has directed many films, including the 1976 horror movie The Omen and the 1978’s modern superhero film, Superman. He later directed successful commercial movies like the Scrooged, The Goonies, The X-Men movie series, and the Lethal Weapon movie series. The film director also received the President’s Award from the Academy of Science Fiction Fantasy and Horror Films.
Richard Donner’s Superman was a huge success at the box office. It stars Marlon Brando, Gene Hackman, Christopher Reeve, and Margot Kidder. The movie collected a gross of $300 million against a budget of $55 million. It was the most expensive film of that time and the second-highest-grossing release of the year. The 1978 Superman was nominated for three Academy Awards, including Best Music (Original Score), Best Sound, and Best Film Editing. It was also selected for preservation by the National Film Registry.
However, the controversy started with Scorsese’s comment on the superhero genre during the promotion of his 2019’s movie The Irishman. Martin Charles Scorsese is a film producer, director, actor, and screenplay writer. His works are majorly known for the concept of redemption, guilt, violence, profanity, and rock music. Scorsese has established his career in filmmaking with the psychological thriller Taxi Driver, the satirical black comedy The King of Comedy, the biographical sports drama Raging Bull, the psychological thriller Cape Fear, the musical drama New York, New York, the crime films Mean Streets, the Wall Street black comedy The Wolf of Wall Street, and the psychological thriller Shutter Island.
The Academy Award winner said that superhero films are deeply flawed and overloaded by CGI. However, the fans of superhero movies, DC and Marvel, would argue with the comment, but the critique has merits. Donner understood Scorsese’s concern; still, he added that apart from many such poorly constructed projects, there are a few comic book adaptations that connect with the audience on a deeper level. He is aware that successful superhero films should consider healthy skepticism and recognize their worth.
The superhero genre is not Scorsese’s kind of movie. Still, his careful assessment of the genre has been helpful for the existing and new franchises.
