Als Tedros 2017 die Leitung der WHO übernahm, hatte er die Unterstützung des chinesischen Regimes. Im selben Jahr ernannte er den simbabwischen Tyrannen Robert Mugabe zum WHO-Botschafter des guten Willens.
Tedros geriet in die Kritik, weil er als Gesundheitsminister in Äthiopien nicht eine, nicht zwei, sondern drei Choleraepidemien vertuscht haben soll.
Er ist der erste WHO-Direktor, der kein Arzt ist.
Vor seiner Ernennung war er hochrangiges Mitglied der Tigray-Befreiungsfront, einer brutalen und korrupten Gruppe, die für Verbrechen gegen die Menschlichkeit wie Bombenanschläge, Entführungen, Folter und Mord verantwortlich ist.
Wie kann ein Mann mit einer solch umstrittenen Vergangenheit an die Spitze der einflussreichsten Gesundheitsorganisation der Welt gelangen?

The WHO declared the outbreak of monkeypox in the Democratic Republic of Congo an international emergency earlier this week. WHO chief Tedros described the situation as “very worrying”.
When Tedros took over as head of the WHO in 2017, he had the support of the Chinese regime. In the same year, he appointed the Zimbabwean tyrant Robert Mugabe as WHO Goodwill Ambassador.
Tedros came under fire for allegedly covering up not one, not two, but three cholera epidemics in Ethiopia when he was health minister.
He is the first WHO director who is not a doctor.
Before his appointment, he was a high-ranking member of the Tigray Liberation Front, a brutal and corrupt group responsible for crimes against humanity such as bombings, kidnappings, torture and murder.
How can a man with such a controversial past get to the top of the most influential health organization in the world?
