When you see a rich man giving donations, look with a critical eye. The fool sees a man who seeks to share their wealth with the less fortunate. The wise man sees a very frightened man attempting to secure his safety with bribes.
Think about it. Aristocracy throughout generations have faced beheading for this reason. When you accumulate wealth, your primary focus becomes retaining that wealth.
